Every line of it, including the ones nobody puts on a card.

The hourly figures are anti-spam ceilings rather than product limits, and they stay finite on every plan; the questions below say why “unlimited” and “at any rate you like” are not the same promise.

Billing

The questions that come after the number.

Do I pay anything during the beta?+

No. Cloud workspaces are in an invite-only beta, and nothing is charged while it runs: the prices on this page are the ones we plan to charge after it. The desktop app and its local workspaces are free, no account needed. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you an invite to a cloud workspace when there is a place.

Join the beta →
Do I need a plan for the desktop app?+

No, and not in the sense of a generous free tier, but in the sense that there is nothing to have a plan about. A local workspace is a folder on your disk: the project, its scenes and every asset are files, and no row ever reaches a database. Plans exist to divide up a server, and that arrangement doesn’t use one.

Install the Windows app →
Can I upgrade from monthly to annual?+

Yes, in Settings → Billing in the app. Moving to annual or to a bigger plan takes effect at once and charges the prorated difference; moving to monthly or a smaller plan, or removing seats, takes effect at your next renewal. Cancelling stops the next renewal: your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then the workspace moves to Free. Anything above Free’s limits becomes read-only, never deleted.

Billing & Refund Policy →
How does Business pricing work?+

Every workspace has its own plan. Free and Professional are for one person: nobody else can be added, not even to view. Business is billed per editor seat, $15 a month billed annually: owners, admins and creators each take a seat, and viewers are free, three for each seat. Each person can have one Free workspace; to start another, upgrade the one you have.

What happens when I reach storage limits?+

The upload that would cross the cap is refused, with a message saying so and what to do about it. Nothing already in the workspace is touched, nothing is deleted, and nothing is billed as overage. Storage is counted over live assets, so deleting one frees its space again. A local workspace on the desktop app has no cap at all: the disk is yours.

How do refunds work?+

Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund. Cancelling doesn’t refund the rest of a month or year you have paid for; you keep the plan until it ends. A billing mistake on our side, such as a duplicate charge, is always refunded: email billing@motionscript.dev. Prices don’t include tax, and there is no free trial: the Free plan is the way to try it.

Billing & Refund Policy →
Where do my credit card details go?+

To Stripe, directly. The card fields in the upgrade dialog are Stripe-hosted frames, so a card number never enters our page and never reaches a server of ours. Nothing about a completed payment is taken from the browser either: the plan on a workspace is moved only by a webhook, from an event whose signature was verified.

Start on Free. Nothing is missing from it.

The whole editor in local workspaces on your own disk, with no account and no card. Move to the cloud when you want to sync or share, not before.
